Corona virus claims 144 lives in 24 hours in Pakistan
LAHORE, April 23 (Online): 144 deaths were reported in the country due to the coronavirus during the last 24 hours, taking the total fatalities to 16,842 Friday..
As per National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) statistics 5,870 persons tested positive steering the confirmed cases of corona virus to 784108
53,818 corona tests were conducted out of which nearly 5,870 turned out to be positive. 682,290 people have recovered from the virus in the country so far.

Meanwhile, the coronavirus positivity rate in Pakistan stood at 10.90% with 84,976 active cases across the country.

According to the official statistics, the total number of coronavirus patients in Sindh has reached 275,815 while 4,576 people have died so far.
In Punjab the total number of COVID-19 patients is 282,469 and 7,799 people have died so far due to the virus while the total number of patients in Balochistan is 21,365 and the death toll has reached 227.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has recorded a total of 110,875 virus patients, with 3,029 deaths, while in Azad Kashmir, 16,193 people have been infected with the virus and 455 people have died.
On the other hand Prime Minister Imran Khan will chair an important meeting of the National Coordination Committee (NCC) to take a final decision on imposing a lockdown in cities where the positivity ratio is above 10%.
The meeting will review the current pandemic situation in the country and decide about imposing further restrictions as the third wave of coronavirus wreaks havoc in Pakistan.
