PPP winds by polls in NA-249 Karachi with close margin amid allegations of rigging


ISLAMABAD, April 30 (online): PPP candidate Abdul Qadir Mandokhel has won the by polls in NA-249 Karachi with close margin after long hours wait till late night amid allegations of rigging.

PPP candidate has emerged victorious with lead of only 683 votes.

According to provisional result issued by Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Qadir Khan bagged 16156 votes while PML-N candidate Miftah Ismail stood second by securing 15473 votes. Mufti Nazir Ahmad Kamalvi, from proscribed Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) clinched third position by obtaining 11125 votes. Syed Mustafa Kamal from Paksir Zameen Party stood at 45h position with 9227 votes. PTI candidate who had won the seat in the general election 2018 could bag only 6922 votes. It was followed by TLP candidate.

Overall 73471 votes were cast in the by polls while 731 votes were rejected. Turn out remained 21.64 percent.

This seat fell vacant due to resignation of PTI MNA Faisal Vawda for participating in Senate election.
