We are striving to use OIC platform effectively to control deteriorating situation in Palestine: FM


ISLAMABAD, May 19 (Online): Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said in the wake of deteriorating situation in Palestine it is our endeavor to use OIC platform in effective way to stop ongoing brutalities of Israeli forces against the innocent Palestinians.

“It is our endeavor and desire that Muslim ummah is united on this issue. We raised voice from OIC platform as much effective as we could do, he said this in a statement here Wednesday.

He went on to say “ I am now leaving for New your along with Turkish and Palestinian foreign ministers. Sudanese foreign minister too will accompany us to New York. We will raise this issue in UN General Assembly.

Ever since the situation in Palestine has started worsening we requested the 60 million Muslims living in European countries to pressurize their respective countries, he said adding protest demonstrations are being staged today in the capitals of the several European countries. Over 242000 people have signed petition against the brutalities of Israeli forces in Palestine so that it could be put to debate in the house of common.

He remarked the citizens of Europe have impacted the mind set of their governments. The top representative of EU has also demanded for ceasefire. Voices in support of Palestinians are being raised from within US.

He underscored Saudi Arabia is continuing its efforts. Jordan and Egypt too look active for cease fire. I have talked to Egyptian foreign minister and I will try again.

What we are concerned about is that a human tragedy is evolving due to Israeli aggression in Palestine, he said adding the Egypt provides the very corridor through which supply of relief goods could be made possible to Palestine.

Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has given call for observing solidarity day with reference to Palestine issue on Friday May 21 and I request the entire nation to come out on the call of PM to express solidarity with the Palestinians people.
