IHC issues notice to EC on PTI petition regarding reserved seats of women in PA

Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued notice to Election Commission (EC) on the petition filed by PTI against EC decision regarding reserved seats of woman in Punjab Assembly (PA) and sought reply.

The case came up for hearing before Justice Amir Farooq of IHC on Wednesday.

Barrister Ali Zafar and Nasim Abbas appeared in the court on behalf of PTI.

The counsel for PTI told the court EC issues notification regarding reserved seats after general election. The political parties provide lists regarding reserved seats. EC deseated five women assembly members of PTI for casting vote against party.

PML-N filed petition in EC that it should not issue notification regarding reserved seats of women. EC withheld the notification in connection with by polls.

The court remarked what happens will happen on today position. What happens tomorrow it will depend on tomorrow.

PTI counsel told the court the general election takes place first then list is prepared for reserved seats. Quota for reserved seats of women and minorities has been allocated in the law in every province.

The court adjourned the hearing of the case till June 21.
