SC denies issuing notice to ECP in delimitation case

The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday expressed its displeasure with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) counsel after the latter could not produce any official notification regarding the freshly marked delimitations by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

During the hearing of petition filed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) against delimitations carried out by the ECP, the Supreme Court (SC) judge Justice Ijazul Ahsan said the apex court would not issue notice to the ECP as no official notification has been issued in this regard.

The three-member SC bench, headed by Justice Ijazul Ahsan, asked PTI counsel Faisal Chaudhy whether he could produce an official notification of delimitation by the ECP before the court.

Upon denial, the court expressed displeasure and said that no notice could be issued to the ECP unless the PTI counsel provides with the notification.

The apex court also objurgated PTI counsel for not presenting required documents in “proper” manner and gave him half an hour to rectify files at the start of hearing.
