IHC suspends CAA order for making deduction from pension of its retired employees


Islamabad (muhammad Basharat – Online) Islamabad High Court (IHC) has suspended the order for making deduction from the pension of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) retired employees.

The court while issuing notice to Secretary CAA and other respondents has sought reply from them.

A single bench of IHC led by Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan issued these orders on the petition filed by CAA employees Wednesday.

The court also issued stay order on June 22 notification issued by CAA.

Barrister Afnan, counsel for retired employees of CAA told the court CAA has curtailed the pension of retired employees of executive group-7. The decision to reduce the pension was taken by CAA board of directors. Hundreds of retired employees have been affected drastically due to cut in the pension.

He further told CAA issued the order for reduction and recovery of pension on June 22. It has been directed that the order about reduction in pension will be applicable from March 2022.

The counsel for the petitioner told the court pension has been reduced by Rs 30000 in respect of retired employee following the issuance of new order. Under law the pension of retired employees cannot be reduced.

The petitioner prayed the court that making reduction in pension from back date is too illegal, therefore, the notification on reduction of pension be declared null and void.
