The Lahore High Court annulled the election of Hamza Shahbaz as Punjab Chief Minister
Lahore High Court has accepted PTI’s petitions against the election of Punjab Chief Minister.
A five-member large bench headed by Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan heard the PTI’s petitions. Apart from Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan, the larger bench included Justice Shahram Sarwar Chaudhry, Justice Sajid Mehmood Sethi, Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh and Justice Shahid Jamil Khan.
The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday granted the petitions of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) while hearing appeals against the election of Hamza Shahbaz as Punjab Chief Minister.
Apart from PTI, appeals of PML-Q and Speaker Punjab Assembly Pervez Elahi were heard in the larger bench. Advocate General Punjab Shehzad Shaukat appeared on behalf of the Punjab Government and Additional Attorney General Mirza Nasr Ahmed appeared on behalf of the Federal Government.
It may be recalled that five appeals were filed by PTI challenging the election of Hamza Shahbaz as the Chief Minister of Punjab, while the conduct of what happened in the Punjab Assembly during the election was also challenged.
