SC directs MQM to file new petition in population census case


ISLAMABAD, OCT 08 (ONLINE): Supreme Court (SC) while directing MQM Pakistan leaders to file new application adjourned the hearing of MQM petition on population census for indefinite period.

The counsel Salah ud Din told the court during the hearing of the case registrar office had raised objection on MQM petition. Amendment was made in the petition with regard to statistics of population census. Farooq Sattar is no more in MQM Pakistan. Voters are more and population is less in 13 percent blocs of Karachi.

Justice Munib Akhtar remarked it will be better new application be filed. Too much time has been elapsed after population census. MQM is larger political party.

Farooq Sattar inquired from the court can any decision be not taken on this matter. Injustice is being done to the people persistently on this matter. The people have been deprived of the right to rule.

Justice Mushir Alam remarked this is not only your problem but it is problem of other provinces as well.

The court while directing to file new petition disposed of the matter.

Talking to media men after hearing of the case Farooq Sattar said it is our stance that urban population of Sindh is shown less. We put up evidence before the court with statistics. Malpractices were committed in the census. We identified all the flaws in the population census. This population census was highly controversial and manipulated. Electoral rigging starts from census.

He demanded fresh population census in Karachi, Hyderabad and other cities of Sindh.
